Best shades for morena skin
Lip, cheek and powder shades that flatter warm brown skin: how to find your undertone at home, the families that tend to work, and how to read a swatch photo.

Morena is a range, not a shade
Morena covers a wide span of warm brown skin, from light golden to deep. Two women who both call themselves morena can need completely different colours, so treat any list — this one included — as a starting point rather than a rule. The only test that counts is the colour on your own mouth, in daylight, near a window.
Find your undertone in two minutes
Four quick checks. If they disagree with each other, start warm — most morena skin sits warm or neutral-warm.
- Gold jewellery looks more natural on you than silver → likely warm.
- The veins on your inner wrist read green rather than blue → likely warm.
- A cream or off-white top flatters you more than a stark white one → likely warm.
- You tan rather than turn pink in the sun → likely warm.
Lip shades that tend to work
Warm, pigmented colours sit beautifully on morena skin. The ones to think twice about are the very pale, cool shades: a chalky pastel or an ashy nude often reads grey rather than soft.
- Everyday: a warm brown nude, a caramel or a terracotta — the MLBB family, kapag ayaw mo ng masyadong obvious.
- For work: a muted brick or rosewood in a matte finish, which stays put through a shift.
- Night out: a true red with a warm, slightly orange base, or a deep berry.
- Layer, don't skip: an icy pink or a lilac nude works better patted over a warmer shade than worn alone.
Cheeks and powder
On cheeks, a warm peach, brick or berry gives colour that looks like it belongs to your face. Sheer a cream out with a finger rather than loading a brush; it is much easier to add than to take away.
For powder, match the depth of your neck rather than your face, and be careful with anything lighter than you are — it photographs grey on brown skin, especially under a flash. The face page lists the powders and creams, and compact powder for UAE heat covers wearing them through a Dubai summer.
How to read a swatch photo
A swatch on a pale forearm tells you very little about the same shade on morena skin. Look for a photo on skin near your depth, on a mouth rather than an arm, in daylight rather than under a ring light. If all you have is a photo of the closed tube, assume the real colour is quieter than it looks.
Still stuck, sis? The shade finder asks about depth, undertone and occasion and gives you a short list to start from, and lips has everything in one place.
