Gift sets for Nanay
Buying makeup as a gift for your mum, an ate or a kumare in the UAE: what to pick when you don't know her shade, the cash-on-delivery catch, and when to order.

Pick the thing she won't buy herself
A gift for Nanay is rarely about discovery. She has a lipstick she has worn for a decade and she is not shopping for a new personality. What she usually does not buy for herself is the second thing: the powder she borrows from you, the brow pencil she has sharpened down to a stub, the small set that feels like a treat rather than a necessity.
Sets are the easy answer because the choosing is already done — a fixed price, a few pieces that go together, nothing for her to assemble. Sets has the full list, and the gifts page has the ones put together for giving.
When you don't know her shade
Shade is the one thing you can really get wrong, so plan around it.
- Safest: powder, brow products, and anything in a colour family you have watched her wear.
- Safer than you'd think: a warm brown or terracotta nude, which suits a wide span of morena skin. See best shades for morena skin.
- Riskiest: a bold colour you love and she has never once worn.
- Hedge: buy the set and keep it sealed until you hand it over.
The cash-on-delivery catch
This is the awkward part of gifting while we take cash only: whoever opens the door pays the courier. Send a surprise straight to her address and she pays for her own present.
So have it delivered to you, pay at your door, and hand it over yourself. If she is in another emirate, order it to yourself and give it the next time you see her. Add a gift note at checkout and we will put your message in the parcel.
And if it turns out to be the wrong thing entirely: Unopened, sealed items can be returned within 7 days of delivery. Anything that arrives wrong or damaged is replaced free — send us a photo within 48 hours.
Timing: payday and the ber-months
Two rhythms are worth planning around. Payday first — UAE salaries are due on the 1st, and plenty of kabayan keep the Philippine habit of treating the 15th as a second payday, so a gift bought in the first week of the month hurts the least.
Then the ber-months. If the gift is going home in a balikbayan box, the box is your deadline, not Christmas: cargo takes weeks in peak season, and September and October are when the boxes fill up. Buying here and sending onward means ordering early. Buying for someone already in the UAE means you can leave it later, since delivery is 1–2 days all year round.
One more practical note: one offer per order — we apply whichever saves you more.
